TV9 - Mandya GP member murdered in Srirangapatna.........! Old rivalry is said to be the reason behind the murder. Tension prevailed at P Hosahalli village in the taluk after a gram panchayat member was murdered in a broad daylight on Monday morning. Old enmity is said to the reason behind the murder. H N Chandru alias Ravi (35), son of Nagaraju of the village is the deceased. It is alleged that Kumar alias Benne Kumar, son of Chikkanna of the same village stabbed Chandru on his neck and abdomen at around 11 am on the day killing him instantly. According to police, the irate villagers and relatives of Chandru set the house of Kumar on fire. The doors, windows, television set, dining table and others were completely destroyed in the fire. This led to tension in the village and district armed reserve police and KSRP were deployed in the village. Police said that the accused Benne Kumar is absconding and they have spread a net to catch him. District Superintendent of Police Koushalendra Kumar, ASP Rajanna, Dy SP Kala Krishnaswamy, CPI Venkateshmurthy visited the spot. A case has been filed on charges of murder against Benne Kumar, Vijaykumar, Thammanna and Ramu in the town police station. It is said that there were financial dealings between Ravi and Benne Kumar and this led to difference of opinion between them and they had a fight for more than three times earlier. Ravi's parents have lodged a complaint that Ravi was speaking with his friends when Kumar attacked him with lethal weapons, killing him on the spot.
